Muyuni Village

Muyuni Village located at Central/South Region of Zanzibar island,meet with Swahili peoples to discover their real mythical culture and their daily local activities when traveling with T-Zenji Tours. Discover the Village of Muyuni which has both natural and cultural wealth to offer visitors, it is a very small Village with estimated area of 4.53 square miles,the area of Muyuni Village is very fertile, typical tropical rainforest evergreen, rich with birdlife and butterflies, and some of wild animals, snakes, endangered Pelele, dykes, Chameleon, and Monkeys.



Jambiani Village

This is a half day excursion in the village of Jambiani, where you will have the chance to experience rural Zanzibar life. The tour is planned in cooperation with the village and includes donations. Meet locals and experience the village life, Visit a seaweed farm, Learn about Zanzibari handicrafts, Visit a school and/or health clinic, Enjoy the delicious local cuisine. Also ,with Tanzania zenji tours you will get an opportunity to visit women’s pottery and handicrafts group, sea weed farming, local school, local herbs doctor and a local clinic. Your village guide will take you to a woman who will show you the process of making rope from coconut fibre. You will stop for lunch at a local restaurant where you will taste authentic Zanzibari cuisine, seasoned with many spices and herbs. There is also a possibility to visit a soap factory that uses the local seaweed as the main ingredients for their soaps.



Nungwi Village

Discover how locals live their everyday lives and how they make their livelihoods. After that you will visit Mnarani Aquarium, Local schools, Learn about local livelihoods, Get a tasty local lunch, Visit a natural aquarium. Mnarani Aquarium is a small tidal lake surrounded by the porous coral rag stone that is home to dozens of endangered hawksbill and green turtles. You will get to feed the turtles with seaweed and to take photographs. After that you’ll have a lunch in a local restaurant. You will also have a chance to visit dhow (local boat) makers by the beach and see how a boat will be prepared or made from the scratch.



Gamba Village

While you’re in Zanzibar, get a taste of Big Island history and culture on this shore excursion. Learn about the history of Zanzibar at Makunduchi Village – an ancient Zanzibar village of Hadimu peoples. Visit the entire village of Makunduchi, where Persian religion became the first to dominate than Islam. Finish your day at Kigaeni beach where you can see the beautiful view of the Indian Ocean. The atmosphere on this tour was authentic in the most positive manner, the feeling of hospitality and generosity of the village people and families we met was touching. Well spent 2 hours tour, which we highly recommend!.



Makunduchi Village

Matemwe Village

The village tours starts from the beach (depending on the tide), where you will meet the seaweed farmers. These women work in the sea shore every day, harvesting seaweed for European and Asian markets. You will learn about the farming and have a chance to try it out yourself! After the beach, you will get to know the inside of Matemwe village. There are two visits to women making local handicrafts and a possibility to try it out yourself and to buy the products of the women cooperative. You will also see the mosque and learn about the village life. There are some 900 students from Matemwe and the neighbouring villages, from ages 7 to 16. If it’s a school day, we can visit the school. There will be a donation minimun of 10 000 tsh made for the school, and it’s included in the tour price. Of course you can donate more if you wish. You can also choose visiting Matemwe health center or a nursery school project. For refreshment, there is a swahili style lunch at a local home/NGO. All the villagers included in the tour will receive a fee for their service, which will be given to a cooperative whenever it’s a possibility. This tour will let you know the real Zanzibari village life, and also gives an opportunity for the villagers to get to know you and also to boost their incomes. This way it is beneficial for everyone and will make the gap between travellers and locals smaller.
